Now you can replace related meds for Inpatient's Pharmacy Dashboard without creating a new line of delivery for brands with the same active ingredient, allowing you to choose between one brand or another before their eMAR application by nurses and cancelling one of those deliveries without having to receive again this medication order from their physician.

Here below we will show you the whole process for delivering medications by choosing a brand and replacing it by another brand with the same active ingredient:

  1. Go to Pharmacy Dashboard (for Inpatients) and select a medication order.

You can search by applying any of these filters:

    - Area - Patient name - Status

    - Class - Intravenous - Pending Prescriptions

  2. Now click context menu and Reserve Stock.

  3. Prepare Doses window will open up. Please select Medication (brand) and set Quantity to Supply.

    Save.

  4. Now you can change a Medication brand. Go back into this order to replace the brand (if there's more than one on stock for this type of medication) by clicking the Reserve stock button again:

Now select new Medication name and set Quantity to Supply:

This will reserve the quantity to supply from stock, replacing the previous medication and returning those saved quantities to stock.

    Save.

  5. Now go to Prepare Doses menu (context menu and Preparing Meds)

  6. Edit or Save and Deliver the medications (context menu and Deliver Meds)

After saving the process it will be completed and you can download report and print tags (pop up windows will appear).

Notes:

  1. Brand will be updated also on reports and UCAF document:

Report:

Medication brand cannot be replaced after the doses were prepared but nurses can hold this meds and send them back to Pharmacy. Reports will be generated with the latest brand.

UCAF 2.0:

UCAF pdf will not show brand names but it will confirm the information for that medication's description:

We hope this improves your Cirrus experience. Remember to share this information and ask for help if you need it.
