We have now improved the communication of our allergic data section by letting users know when any patient has not yet been asked if they are allergic to any medications and also by displaying a different message when they have confirmed of not having any known drug allergies.

First, on Patient Registration window, we added a new warning message in Allergies section. This to communicate admission users that this patient has not been reported any drug allergies nor yet denied them. If you hover your mouse over this section, you will see the message No drug allergies have been reported :

By adding this new feature, we are enabling admission staff to check if any patient has been asked about their allergies. This message will disappear when users enter any drug allergies or if they check the No known drug allergies box :

Also, other Cirrus staff will now see two different messages in allergies section on dashboards (Nurse dashboard, Physician Dashboard, Encounter Dashboard, Pharmacist Dashboard, etc). These messages are the following :

  • No drug allergies have been reported.

This message will appear when there is no evidence of an explicit answer YES or NO from patient.

Clinical staff must then ask patient and register their answer in Allergies screen.

  • No known drug allergies.

This message will appear when patient explicitly answered NO when questioned if they had any drug allergies. Users must then proceed with their current processes.

We hope this improves your Cirrus experience. Remember to share this information and ask for help if you need it.
