Nurse Dashboard's option Orders will now include two different rules for Telephone Orders and Verbal Orders, which are two type of orders where nursing staff must set medication orders instead of physicians. These medication orders usually occurr when doctors cannot create these prescriptions and must ask for a nurse to create them instead so if these orders must be repeated, physicians must request them again to the nurses. Now, Cirrus will integrate this process by only allowing to set a mininum amount of doses for each of these two scenarios.
Order Type option appears when a user does not have physician permissions and must select the type of order received (Telephone, Verbal, Written) , see how these added rules impact on the first two options below.
Settings Needed - Only for ECS Staff
This feature will only impact on users with the Validate Nurses Prescription (TO/VO) 1 day policy checkbox enabled :
Please request it via ticket or chat if needed.
Telephone Order
If you selected Telephone Order as the type of order received by the prescribing physician, Cirrus will automatically set Duration and Validity days after entering frequency data and calculate the number of doses that meet the frequency in 24 hours.
Now, we have a maximum validity of 1 day for telephone orders.
See demo:
Frequency will automatically calculate the number of doses within the 24hr date range and generate only those that lie among these hours. In our example, Cirrus only generated two doses for the next 24 hours :
Verbal Order
If you selected Verbal Order as the type of order received by the prescribing physician, Cirrus will automatically set Frequency, Duration and Validity days after entering the medication quantity.
Now, Cirrus will only allow to prescribe one single dose when generating verbal medication orders, locking all of the fields involved in this process.
See demo :
Here, you can see how Cirrus only created a dose for this order :
By adding this, we are making sure that this type of medication orders comply with patient safety legislation and hospital rules for communication between service stations.
Note :
This feature will not impact any user with physician type of user.
We hope this improves your Cirrus experience. Remember to share this information and ask for help if you need it.
