Until now, physicians were prescribing drugs without knowing if the selected results had any related brand drugs on their organization's inventory, which was causing users to edit prescriptions since these medications were not available in the hospital pharmacy.

To fix this issue, we have now improved the generic drug search by implementing a non-intrusive new color identifier for those generic drugs that do not have any associated brand drug which will communicate users that this specific result does not exist in the hospital (it does not have any related brand drug). Results without any related brand drug will look as follows on results (in faded red/pink color) :

If you choose any drug in this color, pharmacists will not be able to deliver it since it does not have any related brand drug :

This enhancement will impact in all of the following windows:

  • Orders from Physician Dashboard and Nurse Dashboard :

  • Discharge Medications from Physician Dashboard and Nurse Dashboard :

  • CPOE (Prescription) from Medical Schedule, in Appointment Process (Plan and Evaluation tab) :

This improvement will not interrupt or change any of the current prescription user flows.

Note :

  • Generic search results is only listing active medications and will not include any of the medications marked as Obsolete in Charge Master II.

We hope this improves your Cirrus experience. Remember to share this information and ask for help if you need it.
