Users can perform purchases for service orders (service type of products) in cases like when requiring maintenance or any installation that is required and provided by external suppliers. By this users can keep record of every purchase order and not only for storable products.
However, there was an issue in this process when users tried to create a material reception, just like in storable products, that allowed them to perform the material reception and affected the costing methods for this type of products, where service orders purchases only exist for internal control of expenses.
Now, you can perform this type of purchases without affecting the costing methods. See below how.
If you add a service type of product, you can enter their price and quantity just like any other product but their UOM will be that of a Service :
Then you can complete the record just like any purchase order. If you try to perform a material reception from this purchase order, you will see that this material receipt has no product lines and if you add to add lines of service type of products, you will see an error that prevents you from creating an inventory movement for non-storable products.

You cannot generate a Material Reception with a Service.
With this, we are preventing users from creating the current inventory adjustments after performing receptions for products that do not require it.
