In order to follow good practices given by The Joint Commission regarding high reliability of health care services, we have now improved our drug list options for displaying whole numerical quantities when these quantities do not include decimals (fractions). This will apply for the following clinical screens :

  • Electronic Patient Record

  • Medical Schedule

  • Order Set

In the past weeks we updated the same lists but for pharmacists and for Physician and Nurse Dashboards.

Improvement example :

If the physician prescribed one (1) tablet with 500MG, we will display in the lists the following :

1 tablet w/500 MG

instead of

1.00 tablet w/500 MG.

See how it will apply in the following screens :

Medical Schedule

If you start a patient appointment from Medical Schedule window and this patient has been prescribed medications, then the CPOE section will now display whole units rounded, instead of displaying decimals (e.g. 1 tablet instead of 1.00 tablet).

This format was already visible in the printed CPOE report from the appointments :

Electronic Patient Record

And if you enter to the Electronic Patient Record of a patient with prescribed medications, then the Medications section will show the whole units of prescribed whole doses (without decimals) :

Order Set

The same will apply for order sets that have medications added. If any medication with whole units is prescribed here, then it will be displayed without decimals :

Note :

  • Orders in decimals will be kept. This new format only applies for whole units of medications.

We hope this improves your Cirrus experience. Remember to share this information and ask for help if you need it.
